KING LEO THE FOUNDER

Allegory of a forceful leader inspired by the figure of king Leo I, the first Eastern Slavic ruler to pursue a West-oriented political and cultural course, which raised his kingdom to the height of its power. The virtues of a leader – power and wisdom – are expressed in his motto: “With a mighty hand will I rule”.
